J. Cole Biography

Jermaine Lamarr Cole ( born January 28, 1985 ), better known as his stage name J. Cole ( sometimes stylized as J.Cole ), is an American rapper and producer. He is the first rapper to be signed to Jay-Z's label Roc Nation. His debut album is set to be titled Cole World: The Sideline Story. In June 2011 he announced that the recording of the album was finished, and that the release date is set for September later that year.

J. Cole, birth name Jermaine Lamarr Cole, was born in Frankfurt, Germany,[2] and at the age of 8 months old, moved to Fayetteville, North Carolina where he was raised by his mother and aunt. His father is African American and his mother is Caucasian. Cole attended Terry Sanford High School in Fayetteville and graduated in 2003. He decided that he had a better chance of getting signed in New York City, so he attended St. John's University on an academic scholarship where he majored in communication and minored in business, graduating magna cum laude.
